What is the fine for improper plates in ny?
New York Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) § 402. License plates states that a driver may be subject to a fine of $50 if their vehicle does not display license plates that are in compliance with the law. These fines can be imposed for offenses such as:
- Expired or illegible license plates
- Improperly displayed license plates
- Altered or falsified license plates
Additionally, drivers may be required to pay additional fees and/or have their vehicle towed if they fail to correct these violations promptly.
