Gulf Shores, Alabama is home to six public beaches on either side of the city. In addition to sunning and swimming, there is fishing and boating on the Gulf of Mexico. Gulf State Park is 6,150 acres set aside two miles of beach in Gulf Shores. The park offers trails for hiking and biking. Swimming, boating and fishing are allowed on Lake Shelby. Fishing is also allowed off the Gulf State Park Pier. The park offers 496 campsites within walking distance of bathroom and shower facilities. A camp store and laundry facility is available at the registration office. Cabins, cottages and RV lots are available. Free wireless Internet access is available at registration office. Pets are allowed throughout the campgrounds as long as they are leashed and under owner control.

This campground provides lodging for tent and RV campers. There are two club rooms outfitted with full kitchens for campers to use. There are also bathrooms, showers and coin-operated laundry facilities available. The campground features horseshoe pits and a fishing pier. Wooden benches surround the shoreline for guests to relax while enjoying the scenery. After nightfall, guests can relax around the fire pits. Leashed pets are allowed if guests pick up after them.

While this park is designed for RV travelers, tent camping is also available. Electricity, water and cable television are available for an extra nightly fee. A recreation center, bathroom, shower and coin laundry facility are on site. Paved roads intersect natural areas for campers to explore, and there are swings throughout the park for relaxation. Pets are allowed, but must remain under owners control and be picked up after.
