The Chelsea Hostel is located in Chelsea, just north of Greenwich Village, about a mile-and-a-half from NoHo. The hostel is just a few blocks from two subway lines. This area is known for its trendy restaurants, bars and nightclubs, as well as its arts scene. Being the southernmost hostel in New York, it is a good place from where to check out the bars and restaurants of Greenwich Village, Wall Street and the Statue of Liberty. If on a tight budget, you can see the Statue and take some good shots on the free Staten Island Ferry. There are two-bed dorms and private rooms, plus a common room, WiFi and a free breakfast. There is no lockout or curfew.
The Big Apple Hostel is in Midtown Manhattan, easily reachable by four subway lines and about two-and-a-half miles from NoHo. There is no shortage of famous sites in the immediate area, including the Theater District, Times Square, The Empire State Building, The Guggenheim and the The Museum of Modern Art. Central Park is less than a mile away. The Birdland Jazz Club, just blocks from the hostel, features live Jazz and Cajun/Creole food. Air-conditioned, four-person dorm and private rooms are available. There is a kitchen, common room and a backyard with a barbecue. There is no curfew.
The Jazz on the Park Hostel is in the Upper West Side, just off Central Park, about six miles from NoHo. The hostel is close to two subway lines, one of which will take you to NoHo. It is not only steps from the park, but is close to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and The Museum of Natural History. If it's baseball season, Yankee Stadium is a little north on the same line as the hostel. There are air-conditioned, private and dorm rooms that sleep between two and 14 people. There are three patios with barbecues, a lounge, free WiFi and a free breakfast. There is no kitchen, but there are many restaurants in the immediate area.
Located a few blocks from Central Park, on the Upper West Side, this hostel is about six miles from NoHo. This neighborhood is home to many of New York's writers, musicians, actors and intellectuals. The hostel is close to two subway lines that will take you to Lincoln Center, Times Square, Noho and SoHo, on the way into the city. Harlem, the home of Jazz, is only a short walk north of the hostel. The hostel itself is huge, sleeping over 600 people in air-conditioned, private rooms as well as four- to 12-person dorms. There are kitchen facilities, free WiFi and the largest private patio and garden in Manhattan. There is no curfew.
