How to Join a Youth Hostel

Youth hostel membership gives you discounts on many hostel stays throughout the hostel network and access to member-only hostels throughout the world. But besides these obvious member benefits, staying at youth hostels themselves will give you an experience of travel and the people who do it that is unlike anything you would experience at a traditional hotel and is likely to change how you travel forever.

  Find your home country's page on an international hostelling website.

  Fill in the online form or call the number on the website if there is no online form.

  Give your name, address, phone number and birth date to register for membership.

  Pay the hostel annual membership fee, which can be anywhere between $10 and $30. You can pay by credit card if you order online and by check if you apply for membership in person.

  Wait for up to two weeks for your hostel membership card to arrive in the mail.
