Hotels near Ophelia, Virginia

Ophelia is a small, unincorporated community in the northeast of Northumberland County, Virginia. Although not a major tourist attraction, its position by the Virginia coastline and easy transport links to Virginia/Maryland Beach and Chesapeake Beach make it an attractive location for holidaymakers wishing to sample Virginia's coastline. There are a number of hotels within reach of Ophelia to suit all tastes and budgets.
  1. Barbara's Cozy Cottage

    • A 12-mile drive from Ophelia in nearby Reedville, Barbra's Cozy Cottage is a do-it-yourself bed and breakfast in a 100-year-old farmhouse. The property s three rooms, each with a double bed. The cottage has its own eat-in kitchen, a large patio deck with barbecue grill and an outdoor swimming pool. The B&B has off-road parking for trailers and welcomes pets.

      Barbra's Cozy Cottage is a six-minte drive from the Reedville Fishermen's Museum, which is dedicated to the maritime history of the Chesapeake Bay. It's home to a number of historical vessels with two of them, the Claud W. Somers and the Elva C., being on the National Register Of Historic Places.

    The Gables

    • The Gables is a bed and breakfast housed inside a Victorian mansion 12 miles from Ophelia. It was described by the Washington Post as being "one of the most interesting houses on Chesapeake Bay." It has seven rooms, each with its own character. These range from the Kristina Marie Room, which is decorated in the style of early American settler craftsmanship, to the Amber Leann Room, which comes with Victorian furniture and a canopy bed. The Gables does not allow pets and is unsuitable for children.

      The Gables is a nine-minute drive from the Buzzard Point Marina. In addition to boat docking facilities the Marina is also one of the better vantage points for fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. Fish available in the area include flounder, bluefish, cobia and striped bass

    Azalea Grove Bed & Breakfast And Tea Room

    • The Azalea Grove Bed & Breakfast And Tea Room is in Reedville, just 12 miles from Ophelia. Situated on Reedville's Main Street, it is housed inside an early 20th-century building and has eight rooms. The property has a reading room, dining room and main parlor. All rooms come with complimentary breakfast, and lunch is also available. Children and pets are welcome.

      Azalea Grove is an eight-minute drive from the Northern Neck Farm Museum, which showcases the history of farmers in the Northern Neck area. It hosts a large number of tractors on permanent exhibit, and hasa gift shop.

    Ma Margaret's House

    • Ma Margaret's House is a family-run bed and breakfast nine miles from Ophelia. It is inside an early 20th century property, which originally served as a family home, and has been open to the public since the early 21st century. It offers wireless Internet access in every room, and offers spa treatments for those who pre-book. All rooms come with a complimentary Virginia-style breakfast that includes oyster cakes and rice pudding.

      Ma Margaret's House is a 15-minute drive from Fredericksburg Cruises, which offers dinner dances on a two-deck paddlewheel riverboat from May to October each year. Reservations must be made in advance (see Resources).
