Holden, Maine, is in Penobscot County, about 10 miles southeast of Bangor, the state's third largest city. With a population of nearly 3,000, Holden is centrally located for the area's plentiful fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities. This location was built as the Penobscot Inn in 1973 by the family who owned the city's Bijou Theatre. Local architectural legend Eaton W. Tarbell designed the motel's building. Geaghan's Roundhouse Restaurant and Lounge opened at the site in 1975 and has been serving food and drinks to locals and visitors ever since.
