Situated in downtown Lemmon, the Prairie Motel has accommodations ranging from single rooms to a separate cabin available. All accommodations at the motel include refrigerators, microwaves, air-conditioning and coffee makers, while the motel's cabin hosts a kitchenette. Guests have access to some of South Dakota's most interesting cultural points. The Grand River Museum, based in downtown Lemmon, offers visitors ranching, as well as Native American and homestead, creation science and dinosaur displays. The Mount Rushmore National Memorial, located near Keystone, South Dakota, is worth the four-hour drive from the motel. No meals are served on-site, but guests can visit the Powderhorn Family Restaurant, Alaska Cafe and Chinese Garden Restaurant, all within 10 minutes on foot.
The Dakota Lodge is located in downtown Lemmon, adjacent to US Highway 12. Several attractions are within a 10-minute drive of the hotel, including one of the city's main attractions, the Petrified Wood Park, which occupies an entire city block. Shadehill Lake and the Grand River National Grassland can be reached within 20-minutes by car, where a range of activities, such as hunting, fishing, hiking and biking, awaits visitors. Hotel amenities include in-room coffee makers, complimentary high-speed Internet access, cable TV, access to an indoor swimming pool and whirlpool, and a complimentary continental breakfast each morning. As no other meals are served at the Dakota Lodge, guests will have to travel for lunch and dinner. Those visiting Shadehill Lake can compile a picnic for an al fresco dining experience at the water's edge.
Located a five-minute drive from downtown, the Lemmon Country Inn leaves guests well-placed to explore the city's leisure facilities. A nine-hole golf course, three ballparks, motor-cross track, trap and skeet range, and local swimming pool are all on offer in downtown Lemmon, while the hotel hosts its own game room. Guest rooms include additional roll-away beds on request, while some rooms are equipped with micro-refrigerators. A complimentary breakfast is served every morning, but no other meals are served. Alternatives available downtown include Benny's American and Chinese Garden restaurants, while the R Bar is a late night spot.
The Lemmon community hosts a number of annual events, starting in May and concluding in December. Mostly arranged by the volunteer-organization, the Lemmon Chamber of Commerce, events include a spring rummage sale, golf and fishing tournaments, a circus, tractor pull and events on special occasions, such as Hallowe'en and Christmas. One of the city's main events is the Boss Cowman Celebration on the second weekend of July, where Lemmon's heritage is remembered with rodeos, dances, art exhibitions, theater performances, parades and a wide selection of foods.
