Cortland, West Virginia Hotels

Cortland is a small town in West Virginia, just on the edge of Monongahela National Forest and Canaan Valley State Park. It is on the northern edge of the state near the Pennsylvania and Virginia borders, and is one of the unincorporated towns based in Tucker County. The area is known for its outdoor activities at all times of year, including skiing, hiking, mountain biking and rafting.

    • An approximate 30-minute drive from Cortland, Black Bear Resort is located in Canaan Valley. It is a short distance from two of the state's golf and ski resorts. The premises include a miniature golf course, playground, tennis court and a fishing pond. Also nearby is a federal wildlife refuge. Activities around the resort include horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking and skiing when the weather is appropriate.

    Windwood Fly-In Resort

    • With scenic views from the Allegheny mountain range, the Windwood Fly-In Resort is in Canaan Valley, an approximate four-minute drive from Cortland. The hotel has an on-site restaurant which serves traditional American fare, from fried mozzarella sticks and stuffed potato skins to spaghetti, steak and fried chicken. The lodge features a fully equipped game room, on-site fitness room and volleyball court. A swimming pool is also open to guests in the summertime.

    Meyer House Bed & Breakfast

    • A mere 15-minute drive from Cortland, the Meyers House Bed & Breakfast in Davis was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. The Victorian-style house was built in 1885, and offers four guest rooms. Each room has a private bath.

      Nearby attractions include Mount Storm Lake, Otter Creek Wilderness Area, Timberline Ski Resort and Seneca Rocks.

    Bright Morning Inn & Restaurant

    • In Davis, a 10-minute drive from Cortland, the Bright Morning Inn & Restaurant accommodates up to 25 guests with nine rooms, including a two-bedroom suite. While the inn is small and intimate, it accepts children and pets for an extra fee.

      The inn's restaurant serves a full complimentary breakfast to inn guests five mornings per week. The restaurant itself is not on the inn's property, but is instead in downtown Davis. The menu includes traditional items omelets, pancakes, breakfast burritos and biscuits.

    Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center

    • A 10-minute drive from Cortland, Canaan Valley Resort is a ski lodge with 39 slopes and trails for skiers, snowboarding and tubing. For amateurs, the resort has ski lessons. When snow isn't blanketing the ground, a championship golf course is open. Special touches include three gifts shops, a full-service arcade with a billiard table and a "Kidz Korner," open for younger guests and massage services.
