The Yankee Pedlar Inn, in Torrington, 23 minutes from Pine Meadow, is a classic old hotel that was first opened in 1891. The building has been a hotel for most of those years, and has been a restaurant and other operations over the years. Currently the hotel has 60 rooms on four floors, all decorated with antique furniture. Each room has its own bathroom. Four poster and canopy beds are in the rooms with hand-stenciled walls. The hotel has a restaurant and a lounge that has live entertainment and a fireplace. Banquet facilities are also available.
The Pine Meadow House is a Colonial house built in 1836, with five bedrooms in the Pine Meadows community. The house is decorated with antiques, mounted birds, various types of art and vintage fishing gear. Fly fishing on the Farmington River is a short walk away, as well as kayak and canoe rentals. Six golf courses are in the immediate area, trails for hiking and snow mobile riding in winter. The bed and breakfast features a dining room and a living room for guests with chairs, couches and a TV. Each bedroom has a private bath attached. A chef prepares breakfast each morning, and special dietary requirements can be met.
The Dutch Iris Inn is 22 minutes from Pine Meadow in Granby, Connecticut. This Colonial house has six guest rooms, all with king beds and is outfitted with antique furniture and decorations. Each room has its own bathroom. Several packages are available, including romantic evening packages with sleigh or carriage rides through the Connecticut countryside. You may also rent the entire inn for special occasions. Breakfast is prepared for individual guests, special dietary requirements can be met, and breakfast can be served on your schedule. Hiking and biking trails abound in local forests, and cross-country skiing and snowmobile riding area is nearby.
