Hotels in Cobalt, Connecticut

Cobalt is a small town in Central Connecticut, within a mile of the Connecticut River. It is located along Highway 66. Although it does not have its own hotels, lodging is available as close as a few miles to the northwest in the town of Portland. Additional hotel rooms can be found on the other side of the Connecticut River.

  1. Inn at Middletown

    • The Inn at Middletown is a luxury boutique hotel in a building that was first built in 1810. The restored building features a marbled lobby and two-story curved staircase. It is within walking distance of the many restaurants, shops and entertainment opportunities on Main Street in the town of Middletown. The Wesleyan University campus is two blocks from the hotel. Highlights at the hotel include an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and in-room dining. It also has its own restaurant and bar as well as valet parking. The most affordable rooms in January of 2011 were $149 a night. The hotel is approximately seven miles northwest of Cobalt.

    Riverdale Motel

    • The Riverdale Motel is approximately three miles to the northwest of Cobalt along Route 66. It promotes itself as the one of the few hotels to service central Connecticut on the eastern side of the Connecticut River. A family-owned and operated establishment, the Riverdale had rooms ranging from $55 to $75 a night at the beginning of 2011. It has 47 rooms, all of which have their own baths. Four rooms have full kitchens. Located in the community of Portland, the hotel is within a few minutes of three golf courses in town. The hotel is surrounded by trees and provides a tranquil setting.

    Hartford Marriott Rocky Hill

    • The Hartford Marriott Rocky Hill hotel can be found approximately 15 miles to the northwest of Cobalt. Located 10 minutes from downtown Hartford, the hotel provides access to attractions in this area that include Dinosaur State Park, the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts and the University of Connecticut. Rooms at the beginning of 2011 listed as low as $89 a night. The Hartford Marriott has a fitness center, a swimming pool, its own restaurant and plenty of room for banquets and meetings. Another dining option is a seafood restaurant five miles from the hotel.

    Americas Best Value Inn-Middletown/Middlefield

    • The Americas Best Value Inn-Middletown/Middlefield hotel is located in Middlefield, which is just outside Middletown. The hotel is less than one mile from Wesleyan University. This is another affordable option in the area with rooms starting at $60 a night in the winter of 2011. Less than six miles from downtown Hartford, the hotel is within a quarter mile of five places to eat, including restaurants with Italian and Mexican cuisine. Although the hotel does not have its own restaurant, there is a barbecue area outside.
