Paisley is a census-designated area situated to the southeast of the Ocala National Forest in the state of Florida. Surrounded by leafy green expanses and tranquil lakes, Paisley is a beautiful community. Paisley is home to the La-No-Che Camp, which attracts several hundred boy scouts each year. Only a handful of hotels are available in the Paisley area, with most accommodation concentrated towards the more developed areas of Orange City and Umatilla.
The Fox Den Country Inn is situated 10 miles from Paisley in the city of Umatilla. A stay in this renovated 1954 motel offers guests access to Florida's lakes, with a private dock for fishing and a picnic area on Lake Umatilla. In addition to a variety of guest rooms, Fox Den has the private residence Karla's Cottage available for hire, with room for up to eight people. A string of eateries and shops are ten minutes away on North Central Avenue, including Nicky D's Pizza, Fish and Chix and Michael's Restaurant accompanied by a range of chain outlets.
Located on the western outskirts of Orange City in DeLand, the Riviera Resort and Marina is approximately 20 minutes from Paisley. The Riviera's website boasts the slogan "Not near the river...on the river," an indication of the resort's close proximity to St. John's River, where guests can enjoy a range of activities including fishing, swimming and boating. The resort has a picnic area with tables, lawn chairs and outdoor grills. JC's Lobster Pot West and the Shady Oak Restaurant are the two nearest eateries, both a five-minute walk from the resort. Those looking for a night spot can visit the Inn Between bar and Emmy's Time Out Tavern, which are both located on the outskirts of DeLand.
The Tropical Resort and Marina is situated 15 miles from Paisley in the west DeLand area. Activities at nearby Lake Beresford include canoeing, kayaking, boating and fishing. Those who prefer to stay on dry land can enjoy hiking and biking in the Blue Spring and Hontoon Island state parks. Both rooms and apartments are available at the resort, with daily, weekly and monthly rates on offer. Boats and houseboats are also available to rent at the resort. Dining options are available in the center of Orange City, five minutes away, including Pier 16 Seafood, Laspada's Original sandwich restaurant and the Nice N' Easy Oyster Bar.
A member of the Wyndham Worldwide hotel chain, the Days Inn Orange City is located 20 miles from Paisley. Guests at the Days Inn enjoy free breakfast each morning, and have access to an outdoor swimming pool and sundeck. Pets are welcome for $10 each per night, as of January 2011. Discounted room rates are available to AAA and AARP members, government employees and seniors. Though there is no restaurant on-site, a range of options are available nearby. Pier 16 Seafood, a five-minute walk from the hotel, serves fresh, local seafood. Ten minutes from the hotel, the Original Stavros Pizza Restaurant offers award-winning calzones and a variety of American and Greek dishes.
