Tiruvannamalai Hotels

Tiruvannamalai is a city of about 130,000 people that is located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India. The city is most famous for its Annamalaiyar Temple, which pays homage to Lord Shiva, the Indian god of destruction. The city is also known as a spiritual destination and is often associated with yogis and siddhars, or saints. If you are planning a trip to Tiruvannamalai, there are several hotels where you can consider staying.

  1. Trishul Hotel

    • The Trishul Hotel is about 115 miles away from Chennai and 130 miles away from Bangalore. Rooms are all equipped with air-conditioners, satellite televisions, small refrigerators and telephones. Located in the basement of the hotel is the Rishabam Restaurant which offers snacks, Indian and Western cuisine and hot and cold beverages. A view of Mount Arunachala can be seen from the guest rooms and on the rooftop of the hotel. The Lord Arunachaleshwara Temple is three minutes away from this hotel by car.     • The Ammayii Hotel Resort was built in 1985. Some of the amenities include a marriage hall, full service travel agency, a catering college and a conference hall. There are four on-site restaurants with Western cuisine, Indian food, a vegetarian restaurant and a drive-through serving fast food. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of town and about a 15-minute drive from the Arunachala Temple, which was built in honor of Lord Shiva, the god of destruction. It is located 60 miles away from the Golden Temple and 115 miles away from Tirupathii, Chennai and Bangalore. The consists of 18 air-conditioned rooms and six non-air-conditioned rooms. The rental rates for rooms run between $15 to $30 per night, as of January 2011.

    Lakshmi Residency Inn

    • The Lakshmi Residency Inn is conveniently located in the center of Tiruvannamalai. It is a 10-minute walk to the Arunachala temple and a 20-minute walk to the Ramana Ashramam. The hotel facilities include an on-site travel agency, free coffee in the lobby, a free parking area, air-conditioning in all the rooms, Wi-Fi Internet, flat screen televisions in the room and an on-site doctor. There is also a back-up generator in case of power failures, and an air-conditioned meditation hall for those who want a place for quiet contemplation.     • The Hotel Arunachala was built in 2001 and offers well-ventilated and well-lit rooms with comfortable beds and a lounge area in each room. The rooms are clean, basic and reasonably priced. They offer hot and cold running water 24 hours a day, laundry services, an on-call doctor, a restaurant and 24-hour in-house movies. The hotel is adjacent to the Aruncachala Temple and some of the nearby tourist attractions include the Raman Ashram, the Seshadri and the Swamigal Ashram. Approximately 20 miles away is the Sathanur Dam, 30 miles away is the Gingee Fort and 25 miles away is Thirukoilur where there is a temple dedicated for Ulaglantha Perumal, birth place of Paarivallal. Rooms here cost between $10 and $20 per night, as of January 2011.
