The village of Kaslo, located in the Canadian province of British Columbia, is the largest community on Kootenay Lake, surrounded by mountains and waterways. This environment provides ample opportunity for outdoor adventure. Boating, hiking, fishing, golfing and winter sports are all popular pastimes in the area. Kaslo is home to several historic sites, such as the Kaslo Village Hall, the Langham Cultural Centre and the SS Moyie, the world's oldest sternwheeler -- steamboat with its paddle wheel located in the stern.

    • Located on Front Street in downtown Kaslo, the Kaslo Hotel offers upscale accommodations and vacation rentals. Newly renovated in 2009, the hotel features a view of Kootenay Lake and the surrounding mountains. Attached to the hotel is the Kaslo Brew Pub, a restaurant that serves fine food and drink and boasts its own microbrews. Eleven rooms are available for guests, each with a private balcony, two queen or one king-size bed. Guests can also rent one of three condos with full kitchens. The hotel offers banquet and wedding facilities as well as free Wi-Fi.

    Kaslo Motel

    • The Kaslo Motel is situated on D Avenue in Kaslo. It features cabins built in 1940, motel rooms built in the 1970s and additional rooms built in 1998. There are eight studios, each with a refrigerator and coffee pot; four suite units with kitchens are also available. Each of the five cabins have kitchens, a living area and one or two bedrooms. All accommodations have cable television and Wi-Fi. Dogs are allowed in certain rooms and all rooms, units and cabins are non-smoking. The motel fines guests $150 if the smell of smoke is detected in any room or cabin.

    Beach Gables Guesthouse Motel

    • Located on the waterfront of Kootenay Lake, the Beach Gables Guesthouse Motel is a restored heritage building within walking distance of downtown's shops and restaurants. The motel's well-appointed guest suites offer views of the lake and the Purcell Mountains. Each of the suites has a unique theme: the Victorian suite is decorated in the spirit of 19th-century England; the Kootenay suite has a homey, colonial cabin feel; and the Boathouse suite features a sea-side theme with nautical decor. A private bath, refrigerator and outdoor balcony or deck are included with each suite, as well as wine glasses, cups, plates, bowls and silverware. Guests also enjoy free Wi-Fi, cable television and covered parking.

    Kaslo House

    • The Kaslo House is a heritage home with a view of the Selkirk Mountains, located on B Avenue. Built in 1847, this quiet getaway combines modern comforts with historical character. The house offers antique furnishings, a flat-screen television, DVD player and Wi-Fi. A first-floor suite with two bedrooms, a spacious bathroom and a kitchenette is available. The living room has an antique pedal organ, a sitting area and sofa bed. Also included are a front deck and barbecue for guest use.
