Hotels in Temagami, Ontario

Temagami is a small town with a population of about 800 people in northeastern Ontario, Canada. It was settled in 1850 when the Hudson Bay Company set up a trading post. It is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts with old growth forest of red and white pine, Lake Temagami and three of the five highest peaks in Ontario. Activities include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, birdwatching, fishing, camping, boating and hunting. Most accommodation in Temagami is camping or housekeeping cottages, and real hotels are over an hour away at North Bay. There are lodge and motel accommodations that serve as hotels.
  1. Temagami Shores Inn and Resort

    • Temagami Shore Inn and Resort has motel rooms, suites, seasonal cottages and a waterfront five-bedroom house. All rooms are nonsmoking and typical rates as at February 2011 are from $98 to $180 per night. Breakfast is served in the dining room, which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and lunch and evening meals are also available, with home-baked pies on the menu. Rooms have TVs and coffeemaker, and most have a deck overlooking the lake.

    Temagami Motel

    • The Temagami Motel has three motel rooms and a number of one- to four-bedroom housekeeping cottages or cabins. Rooms have private bathrooms, in room coffee, mini-fridges and TV. Smoking is allowed. Internet and fax facilities are available, and there are freezers available for your fish catch. Restaurants nearby are the Temagami Shores, the Busy Bee and the Orient Gardens. Accommodation is available on a daily or weekly basis.

    Wildflower Motel and Bar

    • The Wildflower Motel is situated in the heart of Temagami. It has four motel rooms and serves a continental breakfast. The motel has a bar and a pool table. The Wildflower Restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch. The motel houses local art displays and has a special monthly dinner with live entertainment.

    Loon Lodge

    • Loon Lodge has five bedrooms with accommodations for two to four persons per room, and a two-bedroom housekeeping cottage with kitchenette, bathroom and electric heating. The dining room is in a separate building overlooking the lake and serves home cooked meals. Rooms have their own bathroom and there is a communal lounge with fireplace, couches and satellite TV, stove, fridge, microwave and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There is a large wrap-around deck with wooden chairs.
