Ocean City, Maryland, often looks like a sleepy mid-Atlantic coastal town. Come summer, however, more than four million tourists descend upon the city, clamoring for a spot on its 10 miles of sandy shores. The laid-back beach town is home to an array of hotels with oceanfront suites, many of which are near Ocean City’s three-mile boardwalk lined with boutique shops, seafood restaurants, arcades and bike rental stands.
Set on the south end of Ocean City, Breakers Hotel is a seasonal property, open between April and October. Nestled on the boardwalk, this boutique hotel has nine oceanfront suites complete with private balconies. Hilton Ocean City Oceanfront Suites, near the massive Roland E. Powell Convention Center, is true to its name with 225 oceanfront suites, all of which include whirlpool tubs and large balconies with views of the water. There’s also a pool for adults complete with a swim-up bar. Set right on the beach, Castle in the Sand Hotel has a stand right outside the hotel where you can rent bodyboards, beach chairs and umbrellas. There’s also an Olympic-size swimming pool and beach volleyball court, and servers from the hotel’s Coconuts Beach Bar and Grill walk the beach as well, taking food orders.
You’ll find oceanfront accommodations near Jolly Roger Amusement Park, home to midway games, roller coasters and carnival rides. Days Inn Oceanfront has suites with ocean views and full kitchens. The hotel has two outdoor swimming pools, each outfitted with a sundeck. Howard Johnson Inn Ocean City Oceanfront is open from late April through mid-October. The seasonal hotel offers packages that include admission to the Jolly Roger theme park or a round of play at one of the area's golf courses.
Princess Royale is on the north end of the city and has more than 300 two-room suites, some of which include whirlpool tubs and ocean vistas. Relax in a tropical setting inside the four-story glass atrium, complete with a bar, cafe and Olympic-size swimming pool. The hotel also provides an assortment of dining options, including a food court, beachfront cafe, an all-you-can-eat buffet and Sunday brunch. Marigot Beach Suites has one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, all of which include full kitchens and balconies with panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean. As a guest, you receive free access to the amenities at nearby Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, such as a nightclub with live music and dancing and a seasonal heated outdoor pool.
