Destin is a resort town on the Emerald Coast of Florida's panhandle. The city began as a fishing community settled in the mid-1800s. Nicknamed the “World's Luckiest Fishing Village,” Destin has grown into a vibrant community with an array of accommodations, restaurants, shops and activities for vacationing families. Some of the lodging can be pricey, so if you are looking to minimize the cost of your stay, eating in may be a good idea. There are a few choices of hotels with kitchenettes in the area.

The hotel is only five miles from Elgin Air Force Base and the Turkey Creek Nature Walk is just a short walk away. There is a cocktail lounge and a Ruby Tuesday's on the premises, or choose from other dining options, such as Woody's Hog Heaven or Boathouse Landing, within a mile.
