Westby is a historic town in southwest Wisconsin with strong Norwegian cultural influences. It is close to Amish country, and features outdoor activities such as ski jumping, hunting, fishing and farm vacations. Westby also contains a variety of hotels and other types of lodging, many of which are reasonably priced.
The Westby House is a popular bed and breakfast in the La Crosse area of Westby. It features a restaurant, whirlpool tubs and several romantic package deals. There are five rooms available in the main inn of the Westby House, along with two Jacuzzi suites in the Guest House and two loft suites in the Guest Lodge. Other amenities include free wireless Internet, private baths and terry cloth bathrobes. Rates run from $69 to $195 per night, as of 2011. The hotel has an eight-day cancellation policy, and does not accommodate pets or smoking.
The Old Towne Motel, adjacent to the Old Towne Inn restaurant, provides inexpensive lodging. It offers free continental breakfast, free coffee, wireless Internet, cable television, a lounge area and room service. Other restaurants in the vicinity include the Westby House Restaurant, Borgens Cafe and Nordic Lanes, a pizza restaurant.
The Central Express Inn is a motel adjacent to a restaurant and gas station. It has 21 rooms, two of which are Jacuzzi suites. Amenities include room service, free continental breakfast, air conditioning, cable television and free wireless Internet. Prices start at $39 a night for a standard room, as of 2011. The motel also offers kitchen suites for weekly and monthly rates.
The Logan Mill Lodge, located in the Ocooch Mountain area of Westby, offers three condos for nightly rental. Each condo can sleep up to eight people, and features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living room, a dining room and a deck or patio. Other amenities include flat-screen television, Jacuzzi baths and wireless internet. Rates per condo are $150 a night, as of 2011, and corporate discounts are available.
East Ridge Farm, located four miles east of Westby, offers a farmhouse retreat from April until the end of November. The farm features a variety of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing and golf. According to the East Ridge Farm website, the area boasts "some of the best trout fishing" in Wisconsin. The remodeled country house, settled as a homestead in 1855, includes a living room, bedroom and full kitchen.
