Resort Hotels in Far North Dallas on a Lake

With a variety of lakes to choose from, Dallas, Texas provides an outlet for travelers interested in scenic serene lakes as well as fishing and other water sports. Some well-known lakes include Joe Pool Lake in southern Dallas, and White Rock Lake in central Dallas. However, those interested in lakes to the far north of Dallas seek Lake Grapevine and Lake Texoma.

  1. Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center on Lake Grapevine

    • Nestled along Lake Grapevine in Grapevine, TX to the northwest of Dallas, the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center offers another option. Rooms range from traditional with two queen-size beds to “Executive,” “Presidential,” and “Lone Star” suites with atrium views of the lake and oversized lounge chairs and ottomans. The resort starts at $189 per night, as of January 2011, and offers amenities like an on-site barber/beauty shop, boutiques, boating, exercise room, and golf course and driving range.

    Hidden Cover Lake House

    • Further north of Lake Grapevine, Lake Texoma lies off highway 69. Nestled in five acres near Lake Texoma, the Hidden Cove Lake House has a rustic lodge design. Accommodations include four bedrooms, two baths, an oversized Jacuzzi, pool table and fireplace. As of 2011, rates range from $385 to $585 per night, depending of the day of the week and time of the year. Stay on the low end during non-holidays from Sunday to Thursday.

    Alberta Creek Resort and Marina

    • Also on Lake Texoma, Alberta Creek Resort and Marina offers the comforts of home with different sizes of accommodations. RV water and electrical hookups are available for $20 per night on sandy beach cove, and lodging ranges from two bedroom, one bath for $75 to $85 per night to three bedroom, two bath for $160 to $200 per night, as of 2011. Barbecue grills await outside, and a 1-minute walk from lodging brings you to a marina and the lakeshore.

    Little Glasses Resort and Marina

    • On the north end of Lake Texoma lies Little Glasses Resort and Marina. The resort claims “Little Glasses Bay” offers the finest water playground on the lake. Available activities include wake boarding, tubing, water skiing, fishing and pontoon boat rentals. A number of furnished cabins for rent range in style from studio to three bedroom, two bath. Prices in 2011 range from $80 to $165 per night ($60 to $130 per night in the winter).
