Ovid is located in north central New York and is roughly 20 miles west of Syracuse. The town is part of the Finger Lakes region, which covers 9,000 square miles from the southern shore of Lake Ontario to the Pennsylvania border. It offers a variety of outdoor attractions including Watkins Glen State Park, Red Jacket Orchards and the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. The town is just off the coast of Seneca Lake, which is New York’s largest lake, and in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine region. No hotels are in the city limits of Ovid, but surrounding towns offer a variety of accommodation options.

The Showboat Motel is located in the town of Himrod, about two miles west of Ovid, and sits on the shore of Seneca Lake. Other area nightlife attractions include Johnson's Country Tavern and Red Newt Cellars, offering regional wine tastings.
The Savannah House Inn is located in Himrod and is roughly five miles from the town of Ovid. The Best Western is in the town of Penn Yan, approximately eight miles west of Ovid. It is a short walk from Keuka Lake and a short drive from the Penn Yan Airport. The Best Western is located in the downtown area and is close to a number of dining options including Cam's Pizzeria, Byrne Dairy and Keuka Restaurant, which serves regional fresh fish dishes. The Best Western offers single, double and triple rooms and a Presidential Suite. Guests can visit the heated indoor swimming pool and the fitness center.
