Rend City is a very small town in Illinois near Benton. The area is mostly known for the local Rend Lake made even bigger because of the Rend Lake Dam. There are a number of public use areas for boating, fishing and camping. The Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park is lined with bike paths and Rend Lake State Wildlife Refuge is great for bird watching or just looking at the local animals.
Rend Lake Resort is open year round in the Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park. The staff will help you plan fishing, golfing, hunting, or hiking outing as the staff is well-versed in the area’s activities. You can also go for a horseback ride, take a nature photography hike, or plan a simple picnic. The resort is actually in Whittington, Illinois just 12 miles from the center of Rend City.

These low cost hotels are nationwide chains allowing you to know exactly what type of room you will be getting. Both are located directly off Route 14 and just a mile from Interstate 57. Rend Lake Recreation Complex has two options, either renting a condo or staying at the Seasons Lodge. The outdoor pool is opened seasonally while the whirlpool sundeck is open year round. You can also choose to go shooting; everything from sporting clay to skeet outings can be arranged.
About 40 miles from Rend City you can stay in America’s Best Value Inn located in West Frankfort. Close to Interstate 57, you will also find yourself within walking distance of the Factory Outlet Mall. Also, Depot Veteran’s Museum is just six miles away.
