Miller Place is located in Suffolk County on Long Island’s north shore. Within this area of Long Island are many small towns only miles from each other. Miller Place hosts only a couple of hotels, but there are many options to choose from among nearby towns such as Port Jefferson.
Miller Place Ark is a bed and breakfast in a house that dates to 1760. In the house are three rooms, all of which have double beds – often with a canopy - with a private bathroom and a television. All rooms are ornately decorated, often with florals, polished wood floors and curtains on the windows. The Country Suite has its own fireplace, private stairs and a sofa that pulls out into a bed. The house’s owners serve guests a complete breakfast on weekends and holidays and a continental breakfast on weekdays. The house offers a living room with a fireplace, a pond, gardens and a heated pool in the backyard.
Miller Place Inn dates to the late 18th century. The original mansion on the property was burned down, but a new property was created in the 1930s by joining a barn to a smaller building. Miller Place Inn now caters primarily to guests hosting events. The Inn offers multiple event halls, including outdoor hosting areas and indoor banquet rooms with wooden dance floors. Though primarily an event space, the Inn does offer several packages: a Wedding Package and a Sweet 16 Package. The Wedding Package comes not only with wedding space and reception facilities but also with a private bridal room and a Bridal Suite for the night.
Danfords Hotel and Marina is located in Port Jefferson, within 15 miles of Miller Place. Offering 86 rooms and suites, Danfords describes its décor as “nautical elegance…and modern luxury.” Rooms come with a view of either the Long Island Sound or Port Jefferson Village; these rooms have either two double beds or one king-size bed. Rooms have private bathrooms and a plush chair with a footrest. Danfords Hotel and Marina also offers five suites. These suites have king-size beds and living rooms, as well as views of the Sound. The marina allows guests to dock boats before claiming rooms in the hotel.
The New Heritage Inn at Port Jefferson Harbor is located in the center of Port Jefferson village, with easy access to the town’s restaurants, shops and marinas. All of the inn’s rooms come with either one or two double beds, heating and air-conditioning systems, cable TV, telephones and coffeemakers. Within walking distance from the inn are not only shopping and dining, but also golf, theaters, museums and parks.
