Rhinelander is located in Oneida County, Wisconsin. Situated on the north shore of Lake George, just two miles east of Rhinelander, is Kafka's Resort. Two- or three-bedroom cabins are available, including a living room, kitchen-dining room, double or twin beds and a bathroom with tub and/or shower. Cabins do not have telephones. Vacation rentals include a 14-foot Alumacraft boat, semi-private pier, barbecue grill and picnic table with chairs. Guests can enjoy activities like fishing, swimming on the resort's sandy beach, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Kafka's Resort offers a large playground area with such activities as volleyball, horseshoes and a swing set. Guests looking to do some shopping can visit Sunrise Plaza Shopping Center in Rhinelander, only 2.2 miles northwest of the resort. For dining alternatives, visitors can try Al Gen Dinner Club on Faust Lake Road, 1.8 miles northwest, that offers traditional American fare.
Brekke's Fireside Resort is situated on Lake George and has been in operation since 1971. Located three miles east of Rhinelander, this family resort offers one- and two-bedroom nonsmoking cottages that are fully furnished. All cottages have a remodeled bathroom and a new television. Kitchens include a microwave and coffeemaker. For fishing enthusiasts, a 14-foot aluminum boat is supplied with each cottage; in fact, fishing with a guide is available on site. The resort's beach has a sloping sand bottom that is safe for children. For recreation, Brekke's Resort offers a bar and recreation area that includes pool, darts and video games. Outdoor activities include tennis, volleyball, fishing, swimming and golfing. Playground equipment is available for children, as is a common fire pit for family get-togethers in the evenings. For guests looking for recreation outside the resort, the White Pines Family Fun Center is located 5.3 miles north of the resort and has a mini-golf course, go-karts and video games.
Merry-Dale Resort is also situated on Lake George and is open year round. Two- and three-bedroom cabins are available, in addition to one- and two-bedroom condos. Cabins and condos come with cable television, microwave and coffee maker. Merry-Dale Resort offers a large playground for the entire family. Guests can also enjoy fishing, paddle-boating and canoeing. A 14-foot aluminum boat is included in the cost of rental. Merry-Dale offers an opportunity each evening for guests to take part in campfires on the beach. In the winter, visitors can ice skate on the resort's ice rink or do some ice fishing. For guests who want to venture outside the resort for dining, one restaurant to try is Papillon's Restaurant on Lincoln Street in Rhinelander, 2.8 miles west of Merry-Dale Resort.
