Minonk is a small town in central Illinois' Woodford County. Its origins and growth parallel that of the railroad system in Illinois. Minonk's history dates back to the mid-19th century, when the production and use of the railroads peaked. Today, the population of the town is dwindling, and once thriving businesses are closing their doors. Visitors to the town have only one option for lodging, but surrounding towns can offer other choices.
The only motel in Minonk is the Motel 6 just off the highway. Kids stay free at this basic motel that offers free cable and Internet but little else in the way of special amenities and services. The motel is only a half-mile from Whistletop Miniature Golf Course; or you can tee off at the El Paso Golf Club four miles away. Head into town, a half-mile away, and choose from dining options including Elms Smorgasbord Restaurant, Oriental Buffet and Giovanni's Pizza.
