Motels Near Van Buren, Maine

Van Buren is a town in the northern tip of Maine, along the St. John River and across from the province of New Brunswick in Canada. Van Buren is connected to Canada by a bridge. No hotels are located in Van Buren itself, but lodging can be found approximately 20 miles to the northwest on both sides of the border. Various festivals, museums and outdoor activities including skiing are available in this area.

    • Martin's Motel, 25 miles to the northwest of Van Buren in the town of Madawaska, had rooms starting as low as $48 a night as of early 2011. All of the rooms at the motel come with the standard amenities along with air refrigerators. The larger units are a good choice for families as they have two or three full-size beds along with a sofa sleeper. A free breakfast is served each morning. The motel is within walking distance of the St. John River, which is the border between Maine and the province of New Brunswick. Madawaska is the home of the International Snowmobilers Festival in early February. A snowmobile race is also held later that month.

    • The Gateway Motel & Restaurant is conveniently situated along Route 1 in Madawaska. It overlooks the St. John River. The town of Edmundston in New Brunswick can be reached by a bridge in Madawaska. The motel has a restaurant open for breakfast and dinner that specializes in seafood and steaks. The rooms, which started at $64 a night in the winter of 2011, come in various sizes. The front desk will help guests rent snowmobiles. The motel is three miles from alpine and cross-country skiing opportunities. Guests can tour the Botanical Gardens that are four miles from the motel in Edmundston. Fishing and boating opportunities are 14 miles away.

    Days Inn Edmundston

    • The Days Inn Edmundston, 18 miles from Van Buren in New Brunswick, is located along the Trans Canada Highway and offers views of the the St. John River Valley. A free breakfast is served daily at the hotel, which was built in 2001 and has a guest laundry room. It does not have its own restaurant, but one is located 0.2 miles away. In early 2011, rooms started at $100 a night. Edmunston is the home of the La Foire Brayonne festival and the Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival. The La Foire Brayonne festival is held in the summer, featuring music and cultural displays. Golf courses, restaurants and shops are within five minutes of the hotel.

    Comfort Inn

    • The Comfort Inn in Edmonston is one mile or less from a mall, marina, an historic fort and a sports complex. The site of the annual Jazz and Blues Festival is slightly over half a mile from the hotel. The New Brunswick College is also half a mile from the hotel. Additional attractions within two miles include three museums, city hall square and a pedestrian bridge. A ski area is within seven miles of the hotel. Among the features at the Comfort Inn are a free breakfast, fitness room and driving range. Some of the rooms come with microwaves and refrigerators. Cold-weather hook-ups are available in the parking lot.
