Carlow Mayo is a township located in the Canadian province of Ontario, approximately 20 miles to the east of the more populated city of Bancroft. This area is known for its mines. It also features plenty of recreational opportunities with numerous snowmobile, cross-country skiing and ATV trails. Lakes where people fish and swim are also in the Carlow Mayo area.
Situated 23 miles to the west of Carlow Mayo in Bancroft, the Best Western Sword Motor Inn features its own restaurant, an indoor heated swimming pool, an exercise room and a game room. The restaurant has Canadian cuisine and is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of the hotel's more expensive rooms come with fireplaces. Millennium Park, which is open to the public and has direct access to access to ATV and snowmobile trails, is located next to the hotel. The Bancroft Mineral Museum and the Summer Theatre Playhouse are within walking distance. The shops and restaurants in downtown Bancroft can also be reached by foot.
Lakeview Lodge is located in Bancroft, along the shores of Batiste Lake. It is open year-round and features cottages equipped with full kitchens and areas for barbecuing. Each cottage also has sofa sleepers in the living rooms and patio furniture on its decks. The lodge has fishing boats available for rent. Snowmobiling is also popular around the lake in the winter months. Because the lake is shallow near its shoreline, it is safe for children to swim there in the summer. In addition to renting boats, the lodge has docks ideal for fishing and a fish-cleaning station. Canoes, kayaks and paddle boats are available for free. A convenience store is within walking distance.
The Bancroft Tent and Trailer Camp is not a hotel in the traditional sense, but it does have a log chalet. The chalet has its own private dock along Marble Lake and sleeps up to six people. Trailers are also available for rent. Recreational facilities on the property with a campground include swimming, fishing and hiking on its nature trails. The swimming area has a sandy bottom, a floating dock and a water slide. Rowboats, canoes or paddle boats are available for rent. The property includes bathrooms with free showers and a coin-operated laundry room. It also has a children's camp featuring arts and crafts, a playground, a horseshoes pit and a volleyball court. A general store is within walking distance. Live entertainment is provided in the summer.
The Bancroft Inn & Suites has units that come with fireplaces and Jacuzzis. The hotel also serves a free breakfast and has its own spa. The Bancroft Golf Course is located across the street from the hotel, which is situated within a few minutes of snowmobile trails along the edge of town. The rooms feature the usual amenities along with oak furniture, extra long foam mattresses and brass lighting fixtures. The parking lot has plenty of room for boat and snowmobile trailers along with cold weather hook-ups.
