The Mouth of Wilson is a tiny town on Whitetop Mountain in the Blue Ridge Highlands of Virginia just touching the border with North Carolina. The town is near Grayson Highlands State Park, which provides access to the Appalachian Trail, the popular hiking trail through the Appalachian Mountains. Rainbow trout fishing is a popular sport in the area. Nearby towns of Piney Creek, North Carolina, Independence and Troutdale, Virginia, host hotel guests to Mouth of Wilson.

    • The Davis Bourne Inn is a converted historic mansion with a wrap-around porch located in nearby Independence, Virginia. The Inn's tavern serves a Cajun-influenced menu complete with po'boys and etouffee. Rates for all rooms are $59 all year as of 2011. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi and a continental breakfast in the morning. Children stay free.

    The Station's Inn

    • The Station's Inn is a hotel for motorcycle enthusiasts in Laurel Springs, North Carolina, approximately 30 minutes south from Mouth of Wilson. The Inn offers an overhang for parking bikes and country-themed rooms with wood paneled walls and quilts. Groups of 20 or more can request a cookout. Groups can also access a fire pit for swapping stories around a warm fire.
