Hotels Near Hood College, Maryland

Hood College is a private liberal arts educational establishment located in the west-central Maryland city of Frederick. A selection of hotels are on offer in and around the city, all but one of which are associated with international hotel chains. The city is perhaps best known for hosting the U.S. Army Medical Command installation Fort Detrick. The area has a number of historically interesting spots, most of which relate to the Civil War, while there are also lively theater and shopping scenes.

    • A member of the large hotel chain Best Western, this hotel is situated a mile outside historic downtown Frederick and two and a half miles from Hood College. Guests at the Best Western can enjoy a free copy of USA Today as they enjoy their complimentary cooked breakfast. For the more active, there is a fitness facility and seasonal outdoor pool on-site. The hotel is a shopper's paradise, with six shopping centers, a market and the historic antique and boutique stores of Frederick all within five miles. Breakfast is the only meal served at the hotel, so guests can dine at the nearby Viet's Aroma (Vietnamese), Carribean Soul or Ledo Pizza, each within a five-minute walk.

    Motel 6 Frederick

    • Associated with the Accor Hotels Group, Motel 6 is a budget accommodation located one and a half miles away from Hood College. The motel is also ideally placed for exploring the wide selection of shopping areas to the west of downtown Frederick while also offering excellent road access with the nearby intersection of I-270 and I-70. A number of basic amenities are available at the motel, including fresh coffee each morning and an outdoor pool. Guests will have to leave the motel for further food and drink, however, with the Red Horse steak house, Famous Dave's BBQ and Roppongi Japanese and Sushi restaurant all less than five minutes away on foot. Those looking to get active can play a round of golf at the VFW Country Club, just a two-minute drive from the motel.

    Travelodge Frederick

    • A branch of the Wyndham Hotels Group, the two-mile journey from the Frederick Travelodge to Hood College takes approximately 10 minutes by car. Room rates at the hotel include the cost of a continental breakfast while guests can capitalize on free wireless Internet access. Travelers staying at the Travelodge are within 10 minutes on foot from the historic Mount Olivet Cemetery, with its interesting Civil War monuments. Visitors looking for a day out can take in a Frederick Keys minor league baseball game at the nearby Harry Grove Stadium. The hotel does not have a restaurant so, breakfast aside, guests will need to travel for food. For an alternative experience, visitors can buy some food and have a picnic in one of Frederick's parks -- Carver, Overlook and South End parks are each within a 10-minute walk.
