Dog-Friendly Hotels Near Chesapeake Bay, Maryland

With an area of approximately 4,500 square-miles, the Chesapeake Bay is one of the largest estuaries in the United States and it borders on six states, including Maryland. This large bay has over 200 miles of shoreline and provides opportunities for fishing and boating excursions. Tourists who have pets can find hotels near Chesapeake Bay that will accommodate them. Several parks on the bay are dog-friendly as well, including Flag Ponds Park in Lusby.

    • The Loews Annapolis Hotel in downtown Annapolis is less than five miles from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, as well as the United States Naval Academy. Dog owners who stay at Loews can take their pets to Downs Memorial Park, a bayfront recreational area that offers trails for walking and picnic facilities. The park is approximately 30 minutes from the hotel. As of spring 2010, dogs are allowed to stay at this hotel for a nightly fee of $25 per dog. Only two dogs are permitted per room. Other hotel amenities include an exercise room, spa with massage therapies, gift shop and an on-site fine dining restaurant, Breeze, that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each guest room at Loews includes a 32-inch flat-screen television, work desk and high-speed Internet access.

    Clarion Hotel

    • Located in Aberdeen, Clarion Hotel is right off Interstate 95 and less than 15 minutes from Chesapeake Bay. As of spring 2010, pets are allowed to stay at Clarion Hotel for no extra charge or size restrictions. Hotel amenities include a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, volleyball court, parking spaces for large trucks and RVs, picnic area with barbecue grills and guest laundromat. The hotel's on-site restaurant, Durango's, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each of the 134 guest rooms feature satellite television, refrigerator and microwave. Clarion Hotel is only a 15-minute drive from the Concord Point Lighthouse. This 36-foot structure is the second-oldest lighthouse in Maryland and is open for the public to tour.

    Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay

    • Hyatt Regency in Cambridge is situated on Maryland's eastern coast and faces the Chesapeake Bay. This hotel provides chances for on-site recreation, such as the 18-hole golf course at the River Marsh Golf Club, fishing and boating facilities at the hotel's marina and an indoor swimming pool. Other amenities include a business center with fax services, complimentary shuttle transportation service and an on-site restaurant, Blue Point Provision Company, that serves seafood dishes and provides a picturesque view of the bay. As of spring 2010, dogs under 80 pounds are allowed to stay for a nightly fee of $50 per pet. Also, dogs must stay in the pet-designated wing of the hotel. Hyatt provides four outdoor kennels for guests' dogs as well. Guest rooms at the Hyatt include a 37-inch flat-screen television, private balcony, refrigerator and marble-furnished bathroom.
