The Delaware Bay is a large estuary formed by the mouth of the Delaware River and two capes flanked by the Atlantic Ocean. It forms a large portion of the border between Delaware and New Jersey. The mudflats and marshes lining the bay are a rich habitat for migratory shorebirds, and provide wintering habitats for different songbird, waterfowl and raptor species. The bay is a spawning grounds for the largest population of horseshoe crabs in the world.
