Greencastle, Pennsylvania Motels

Greencastle is in southern Pennsylvania, and is a resting point for travelers visiting Gettysburg National Park, approximately 30 minutes away. The history of this town dates back to its founding in the late 18th century, after the American Revolutionary War, and it was a major train stop for the Cumberland Valley Railroad during the 19th century. The town's motels are within 30 minutes of historic sites, such as Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland.

  1. Castle Green Motor Inn

    • The Castle Green Motor Inn is in the heart of downtown Greencastle, and features an on-site restaurant. The motel's dining establishment is adjacent to the lobby, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week. A lounge area is also available with cocktail drinks and televisions for sporting events. The two-floor motel's guest rooms have outdoor entrances that offer immediate access to the hotel's parking lot. The parking lot has spaces for RVs and buses.

      The motel is within walking distance of downtown Greencastle's shops and restaurants. Local eateries on East Baltimore Street include the Antrim House Family Restaurant, which is housed in a historic home, and the Pure and Simple Cafe, an eatery with sandwich and vegetarian plates. Walking and picnicking activities can be had at Enoch Brown Memorial Park in northwestern Greencastle, approximately 15 minutes from the motel. This park was the site of the Enoch Brown School Massacre in the 18th century.

    Comfort Inn

    • Situated in southern Greencastle, the Comfort Inn features a fitness center and health club, which has a jogging track, racquetball courts and two sand volleyball courts.       The motel is less than 10 minutes from downtown Greencastle, which offers dining options at local eateries such as Bentley's on West Franklin Street. This restaurant has a bakery section and offers barbecue cuisine. Downtown Greencastle is also home to the Greencastle Antique Mall, which features rare furniture pieces and fixtures. Hiking opportunities are available on the intercontinental Appalachian Trail -- a 20-minute drive from Comfort Inn.

    Castle Motel

    • The Castle Motel is a small, country Inn on U.S Highway 11, approximately five minutes south of downtown Greencastle's shops and restaurants. The locals call this accommodation the "home away from home," since many of the motel's guests are frequent tenants, according to the motel's management. The motel has eight rooms, and weekly rates are available. RV parking is available for cross-country travelers.

      The motel is less than a mile from Interstate 81, which makes a day trip to Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland approximately 30 minutes. This recreation area was a site of the Battle of Antietam, a Civil War battle that served as a major turning point in the war. Guided tours and walking paths are available at the park. The Buck Horn Family Restaurant, which serves American-style cuisine in eastern Greencastle, is a five-minute drive from the motel
