Petersburg, Alaska is nestled along the Inside Passage at the northern tip of Mitkof Island. A fishing village in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, Petersburg is also known for hunting, berry picking and pleasure cruises. Because of the shallow passageways, large cruise ships cannot navigate the passages, but smaller cruise ships are found here. Wild Alaskan salmon, crab, halibut and rockfish are plentiful, and humpback whales frolic and feed in the surrounding waters.
