Isabela Island, which features an extensive variety of animal species such as Galapagos Penguins and Marine Iguanas, is the largest, tallest, and one of the youngest of the Galapagos islands. Its town, Puerto Villamil, is home to approximately 2,000 residents, many of which are fishermen. Visitors to the area will find a variety of accommodations to suit their needs.
The Red Mangrove Isabela Lodge, an oceanfront property, features eight separate guest rooms; each of them is equipped with two queen beds and a private bathroom. Three of the guest rooms offer ocean views, and all guests are able to enjoy the property's wooden deck and rooftop terrace. Amenities include complimentary American breakfast each morning, air-conditioning, hot water, laundry, and Internet access in the reception area. Early check-in and late check-out are available for an added cost, and guests who arrive prior to their scheduled check-in time are able to store their luggage at the hotel until their room is ready.
Hotel Albemarle is a family-operated hotel situated right along Isbela Island's white-sand beaches. Guests can enjoy dining right on the beach at the gourmet Restaurant Albermarle, which offers an extensive menu of fresh local seafood dishes. All guest rooms feature large marble bathrooms, air-conditioning, cable TV, electronic safes and wireless Internet, and the hotel property also houses a freshwater swimming pool and hot tub. Hotel Albermarle doesn't directly operate tours but can help to arrange tours to a number of different local spots such as Los Tuneles, Volcan Sierra Negra, and the Tintoreras, among others. Tours run daily and most can be arranged one day in advance.
Located along Puerto Villamil's sandy white beaches, La Casa de Marita features several common spaces--a living room, library and bar--as well as an open-air jacuzzi with sea views. The hotel houses 13 standard guest rooms and seven individual suites. Fresh produce is grown on the hotel grounds and used in many dishes at the on-site restaurant, which serves an international menu. Guests can participate in a wide variety of local activities, including surfing, bicycling and snorkeling. La Casa de Marita's location also puts guests within relatively easy traveling distance from a number of different attractions such as the Wall of Tears, the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and Concha de Perla.
