Members of AAA who visit Las Vegas can enjoy discounts on shows, shopping, automotive repairs, dining and lodging at partner businesses of what used to be called the American Automobile Association. More than 150 AAA-approved hotels in Nevada’s glitziest city have AAA Diamond ratings that range from basic two-diamond hotels to luxury five-diamond hotels. However, only AAA-partner hotels, which also are called AAA-preferred hotels, offer lodging discounts of at least 5 percent to AAA members. As of the summer of 2014, AAA members visiting the casinos, shows and sights of Las Vegas could find discounts at more than 20 hotels with AAA discounts operated by five AAA-partner hotel chains: Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International, Hyatt Hotels, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and Best Western International.
Hilton brand hotels operating in Las Vegas include DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Hilton hotel properties. Some of the hotel chain’s roomier accommodations can be found at the 52-story Elara. The Elara, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club hotel with three- and four-bedroom suites overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, is located next to the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino complex. Eleven Hilton properties were open in Las Vegas as of the summer of 2014.
Among the Marriott brand hotels operating in Las Vegas as of June 2014 were Fairfield Inn and Suites, Courtyard by Marriott and Springhill Suites hotels. As of the summer of 2014, 13 AAA-Partner Marriott hotels were operating in Las Vegas. Among them is the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, an Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott. This full-service casino, hotel and entertainment complex has drive-in movies on Monday evenings, when a giant movie screen shows poolside movies at the hotel’s Marquee at Boulevard Pool.
Hyatt Place Las Vegas, the one Hyatt hotel open in Las Vegas as of the summer of 2014, is a non-smoking hotel with no gaming on the premises, which Hyatt promotes as the “quiet, family-friendly” place to stay while visiting the city. Still, the bright lights and 24-hour foot traffic of the Las Vegas Strip is just a short walk from the property.
Starwood is the parent company of the Westin Las Vegas Hotel, Casino and Spa, and Element Las Vegas/Summerlin, operating in Vegas as of the summer of 2014. Located one block from the Strip, the Westin offers gaming at its Max Casino and full-service spa and massage facilities at its Hibiscus Spa. The offers no-cost access to its on-site sauna and steam room, and is only about a block away from the High Roller Observation Wheel, a 550-foot-tall Ferris wheel.
Best Western operated three properties in Las Vegas as of June 2014. The Best Western Plus Casino Royale is at the center of the Las Vegas Strip, near Caesar’s Palace. It advertises low-table minimums at its on-site casino, as well as its prime location at the heart of the Strip. It's easy to spot -- with a colorful Casino Royale sign rising above the sidewalks along the Strip.
