Compass Lake is a 600 acre spring-fed area located in Jackson County, Florida. It is 75 miles west of Florida's capital, Tallahassee and 35 miles north of Panama city where many people commute to work. Tourists enjoy the 27 miles of beaches that the coast offers in the Panama vicinity and visit Compass Lake to enjoy fishing, boating and relaxing in tranquility. Compass Lake is part of a 10,000 acre community and there is only accommodation option at the lake itself. However, nearby there is a choice of guest houses.
Compass Lake In The Hills has ten cabins for vacation rental. Each unit accommodates up to six adults. Facilities include a porch with a lake view, private bathroom and basic self-catering facilities. To dine out, visit the Lake View Lodge Restaurant which is within walking distance. Conveniently located in front of the cabins is the boat house. From here launch a boat and head out onto the lake for fishing. Alternatively, stay on dry land by visiting the equestrian center for horse riding lessons. As of October 2010, guest rates begin at $70 per night.

Ten minutes north of Compass Lake on County Road 276, is La Maison De Lucy, a luxurious bed and breakfast. Each of the twelve rooms is decorated in the style of a different country. Choose from bright colors in the Jamaican room, or the sophistication of an Italian room. Five miles south of Compass Lake is the Pine Lake RV Park. There is a variety of accommodation available including full hook-ups, tent sites, cabin rentals or trailer rentals. Cabin rentals are $175 per week, as of October 2010. Pine Lake has an indoor gym and a private 7 acre lake for outdoor activities such as fishing and walking. These are available to guests at no extra charge. Three Rivers Lake Recreation Area lies two miles south of Compass Lake and easily accessible from Pine Lake RV Park. At Three Rivers, you can rent a canoe or watch native wildlife including white-tailed deer and grey foxes.
