If you are reading this article, it is fair to assume that, like most of us, you demand a level of quality and guarantee of hospitality from the hotels you patronize on your vacations. Most everyone has had unfortunate encounters with some truly terrible hotels that made them wish they had stayed home instead. So steer clear of these dumps, because Niagara Falls is a destination so magnificent that it would be a crying shame to allow a miserable hotel stay to cloud what should be a delightful experience.
A whopping 68 percent of travelers do not recommend this hotel, according to polls conducted by TripAdvisor, a widely trusted travel advice company. While you are out happily enjoying your Niagara Falls vacation at any place but this Howard Johnson, say a silent thanks to the brave ex-customers who lived to tell of the horrors endured there so you don't have to. Some choice words, straight from the Howard Johnson victims themselves: "It was the single worst hotel experience that anyone could imagine ... the inside of the hotel was truly disgusting." "We all had bed bugs on us." "Our room smelled like an ashtray and the bathroom reeked of urine." "Please spare yourself the pain."

"DO NOT STAY HERE!" says one of many ex-patrons of the Quality Hotel and Suites Niagara Falls who care to disagree with the hotel's apparent definition of "quality." Not enough to dissuade you? Well, then, take it from the poor fellow who had this say about his vacation gone awry, on TravelPod.com, courtesy of the supposed Quality Hotel: "Jitters ... my whole family contracted scabies." Consider also the opinion of this regretful ex-patron: "Disgusting place to stay ... would rather have camped by the falls and froze." Finally, ponder this sage advice from yet another less-than-satisfied alum: "Please avoid if at all possible ... hallway hot, floor dirty, it smells."

Econo Lodge is yet another unfortunate blight on the Niagara Falls hotel scene. To borrow the artful words of one nonplussed reviewer, it is, "Awful! Awful! Awful!" Need more details of this laughably terrible lodge to make an informed choice? Picture this, as reported by visitors on TravelPost.com, if you can stomach it: "The room was dirty, hair was all over the bathroom floor, and a dirty Q-tip was found on the head board! GROSS!" Another disgusted ex-customer offers these choice sentiments: "Don't ever stay here, what a dump ... I paid over 100 bucks for this craphole." Then there is this tidbit: "We got a room with a jacuzzi that we couldn't use because it was so dirty. Motel smelled bad because of Oriental restaurant next door." Finally, just so you are sufficiently scared off, here is one last image: "The toilet did not flush at all. Cannot even handle toilet paper." Does this sound like a place you would pay even a discount to sleep in, on your Niagara Falls vacation? Consider yourself forewarned..
