Located in the rolling farmlands of southwest Germany, the 3,000-acre French-American Ramstein Air Force Base has been home to over a dozen combat units since its post-war construction. Many of those stationed in this quiet German hamlet like to spend their off hour exploring the adjacent town of Kaiserslautern (locally referred to as K-Town) and Ramstein-Miesenbach, and staying at any one of the beautiful and quaint lodgings provided there.
Located in the Northeast corner of Ramstein, the 15 room Hotel Ramsteiner is a local legend of Bavarian charm for both military units on leave and visiting families alike. If a charming chateau with classic German architecture, internet access and fantastic food served by candlelight is your idea of heaven, then this is the hotel for you.

Located near the intersection of L363 and Highway 6, the Rosenhof is more of a B&B than a hotel in the traditional sense. Quaint, alluring and mysterious, this 10-room delight is hidden away in a copse of woodland on the edge of town. The staff is upbeat and friendly, the restaurant is excellent, and the atmosphere is romantic. The stone garden and brick pathways hint at timeless elegance, but the rooms themselves have many modern conveniences like cable TV and high-speed Internet access. You could do little better for the Rosenhof's reasonable asking price of 85 Euros a night (as of February 2010).

In every way that the Rosenhof and Remsteiner are old fashioned, the Merker is modern. Located within rock-throwing distance of the L363/Highway 6 intersection, the Merker is comparable to perhaps an American Quality Inn. Amenities are similar; a telephone, kitchenette, satellite TV, Internet connection, microwave, minibar and a restaurant with both regional and international cuisine. At 70 Euros a night (Spring 2010, single room), this is more of a businessperson's hotel than a couple's retreat.
