Hotels Near Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York

It's difficult to imagine a more romantic way of arriving in New York than to dock at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in a luxury passenger ship. The cruise terminal on the Hudson River is adjacent to the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of eastern Midtown Manhattan. Once you're there, you can find plenty of hotels within a mile of the terminal, and those come in all shapes and sizes from the shamelessly luxurious to the unabashedly budget, and everything in between.

    • On 11th Avenue at 48th Street, a five-minute walk from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Ink48 is part of a boutique chain. Housed in a modern property with 222 guest rooms, the hotel features a rooftop lounge bar and deck on the 16th floor with views across Manhattan and the Hudson River. The hotel restaurant, Print, is also set atop the building and serves a modern Mediterranean menu with French accents. Just 100 yards around the corner from Ink48 on West 48th Street, the Comfort Inn Midtown West offers less luxury but comes at a much cheaper price. The 13-story hotel opened in a brand new building in 2013, and is noticeably stylish. Public areas have free Wi-Fi and cooked or continental breakfast is included in the price.

    Luxury

    • A 20-minute walk or a five-minute taxi ride from the Terminal, the Michelangelo Hotel is on West 51st Street and 7th Avenue. The hotel's period building has four 19-story towers occupying a whole block and the 179 guestrooms have Italian antique-style decor and furnishings. In-room dining is available and the Insieme Lounge has an extensive cocktail and wine menu and serves light meals. A little less than a mile from the terminal, the Paramount Hotel on West 46th Street at 7th Avenue is housed in an elegant 18-story building from the 1920s with rococo detailing. The 597 guestrooms have contemporary furnishings, and suites with separate living rooms are available. Guests can dine at the on-site bar and grill and there's a nightclub in the basement, the Diamond Horseshoe.

    Mid-range

    • A 15-minute walk from the 414 Hotel on West 46th at 9th Avenue will get you to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The hotel is in two adjoining historic townhouses on a tree-lined street, which is largely residential with a smattering of shops and restaurants. The hotel has 22 rooms, some of which overlook the internal courtyard garden, and room rates include a continental breakfast. On West 42nd Street at 10th Avenue, The Out NYC is a little more than a half-mile from the terminal. Describing itself as an "urban resort," this stylishly modernist low-rise property has two courtyards and an atrium, and 103 rooms with strikingly modern furnishings and decor. On-site amenities include KTCHN, a restaurant serving modern American dishes, and a health spa. Public areas feature original contemporary art.

    Budget

    • Just 500 yards from the terminal, Hotel Five44 occupies a brick building so unobtrusive as to be almost invisible. Inside you'll find 15 clean rooms with free Wi-Fi, kitchenettes and en suite bathrooms. There are plenty of lively restaurants and bars in the vicinity, and the room rates are very low for midtown Manhattan. The Econo Lodge Times Square on West 47th Street at 8th Avenue is a 15-minute walk or a five-minute taxi ride from the cruise terminal. Occupying two period townhouses with a modern annex, the hotel has 50 air-conditioned rooms with simple furnishings and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests can help themselves to a complimentary continental breakfast in a bright ground floor room with street views.
