Rhinecliff, New York, founded in 1686, is one of the oldest hamlets along the Hudson River. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Hudson River National Historic Landmark District. Rhinecliff sits near the foothills of the Catskill Mountains and has a half-dozen hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts, one of them dating back to the 18th century. The town is about a two-hour drive from New York City.
The Beekman Arms & Delamater Inn are in Rhinebeck, about five minutes from Rhinecliff. The 23-room Beekman Arms has been in operation since 1766 and is billed as "America's oldest operating inn." The 50-room Delamater Inn is a block away. Dining, shopping and a theater are within walking distance. The Delamater Inn has a conference room. The Rhinecliff Hotel, built in 1854, bills itself as a "boutique country hotel.” lt is next to the Amtrak station and offers views of the Hudson River. Guests can hunt for antiques in nearby historic Rhinebeck. The hotel has a restaurant that is open daily and serves food and beverages from the Hudson Valley, including wine and cheese.
