Nine miles south of North Bay at the southeast end of Lake Nipissing is the Municipality of Callander, Ontario. In 2003 the municipality changed their name from North Himsworth to the current name of Callander. The geographical location of the area gives visitors a chance to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities such as boating, hiking, biking and horseback riding. In keeping with the outdoor theme, accommodations for visitors consist mainly of cottages and lodges.
Only 24 miles west of Callander, Ontario is the Waltonian Inn Resort in North Himsworth. The inn was originally built in 1923, and in 1980 was rebuilt after a fire destroyed most of the lodge. Rockview Camp Cottage Resort is located on Callander's Rockview Road. From Victoria Day until Thanksgiving each year guests are able to enjoy a stay at one of the resort's five lakefront cottages featuring either two or three bedrooms and wireless Internet access. Fishing, water sports, golfing, horseback riding and hiking are just a few of the many outdoor activities easily accessible to guests. Museums, theaters, shopping and fine dining facilities are within 15 miles of the city of North Bay.
