Tribes in the Muscogee (Creek) alliance, followed by English Puritans, originally settled Midway, Georgia. Destroyed during the Revolutionary War and again during Sherman's March to the Sea, Midway has rebuilt itself largely as a center for historical preservation. Along with the town's lush greenery, Midway boasts of two spots listed on the National Register of Historic Places--Midway Congregational Church and Cemetery--and three museums.
