Destroyed during the Revolutionary War and again during Sherman's March to the Sea, Midway has rebuilt itself largely as a center for historical preservation. Along with the town's lush greenery, Midway boasts of two spots listed on the National Register of Historic Places--Midway Congregational Church and Cemetery--and three museums.

Travel 6 miles south of Midway to the Leconte-Woodmanston Plantation and Botanical Gardens, which grows an extensive collection of flora native to Georgia.

    Fort Stewart Econo Lodge
