Catalonia Yucatan Beach Resort is an all-inclusive resort located on the Riviera Maya on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. It is on a private tourist development that includes a marina, a golf course and a dolphin experience. There are 380 rooms available--standard and superior. All rooms have balconies but superior rooms are more spacious, have premier ocean views, ceiling fans and plasma TVs. If you want to upgrade your standard room to a superior room, you may be able to do so, depending upon availability.
Check online for any room specials or upgrade offers on their hotel chain's website (see Resources below). Hoteles Catalonia, which runs the Catalonia Yucatan, often runs upgrade or discount promotions on their website.
Call the Catalonia Reservation line to ask about room availability. Ask for a room upgrade to their superior rooms. Over the phone, however, you are less likely to get a free upgrade.
Ask for an upgrade upon check-in. If you are celebrating a special occasion, let the check-in staff know and emphasize that you would really appreciate an upgraded room. Being kind and courteous to the check-in staff is the best way to get a free upgrade. However, if they are unable or unwilling to give you a free upgrade and you still want the upgraded room, let them know you are happy to pay for it. Depending upon availability, you should get your upgraded room.
