The Phoenix Park Hotel is located on North Capitol Street near the Union Station Metro. It has been serving guests since 1922, though before 1982 it was known as the Commodore. Daniel J. Coleman, Irish-American entrepreneur, bought the hotel in 1982 and gave the interior an elegant, rustic decor with accents of green. According to the official website, the guest rooms combine, "Contemporary convenience and old world luxury... . Luxurious Irish linens, fine toiletries, custom-designed carpets and chandeliers from Ireland's most noted companies are used throughout." All the rooms have flat-screen televisions, two-line phones, coffee makers and hair dryers. The hotel encompasses the famous Dubliner Restaurant and Pub, which politicians and travelers alike frequent. It even has a signature ale, the Dubliner's Amber Ale.
