Situated between popular Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Hollywood, Florida is not as glamorous as its Californian counterpart. It has its own style and appeal, however. Incorporated in 1925, Hollywood's beach location and area attractions make it a destination of its own. Historic hotels are one option for area lodging, allowing the visitor to remember Hollywood's history while enjoying its rejuvenated present.
The Ramada Hollywood Beach Resort Hotel, also referred to as the "Grand Lady," was built in 1925. Its Mediterranean revival style, indoor solarium and direct link to the New York Stock Exchange made it a popular vacation spot for wealthy industrialists and visiting celebrities. It was renovated in the Art Deco style in the 1940s and updated again in 1987 when it changed its name to the "Hollywood Beach Resort." In 2002, the resort became part of the Ramada chain.
