Langkawi is a collection of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea near the coast of northwestern Malaysia. Only two of the islands are inhabited, Pulau Langkawi and Pulau Tuba. In 2008 the name Langkawi was changed to Langkawi Permata Kedah to celebrate Sultan Abdul Halim of Kedah's Golden Jubilee. The islands are popular with tourists because of their white sandy beaches as well as the geoforest parks in the islands.
The Andaman Hotel is 20 miles north of the International Airport of Langkawi. It is built in a tropical rain forest and has many activities for all the family to enjoy. Each of the 186 rooms at the Andaman Hotel has en-suite facilities and a balcony with views of the surrounding forests. Every room is air conditioned with ceiling fans, television and minibars. A presidential suite has its own Jacuzzi, cable television, minibar and welcome fruit baskets. The hotel has two main restaurants. The first is an Asian restaurant that overlooks the swimming pool with both indoor and outdoor seating. The other is a Japanese restaurant with dishes that include sushi and tempura. Morning and evening walks are available through the rain forest with a naturalist guide. Jungle treks are also available, as well as bike rides and bird watching. The hotel has an 18-hole golf course, a fitness center, tennis courts and many water sports. A kids' club at the resort features a playroom and games room with the latest video games.
