Wall Decorations for Hotels

Interior decorators who have the task of decorating hotel rooms are faced with challenges unlike those found in a home or business. Hotels are still businesses, but they seek to provide guests with the comfort and style of home. Decorating the walls of hotel rooms may call for the same design in each room, or several different similar styles. The plus side is that because of the mass orders, you'll likely qualify for a discount. There are many ideas to consider for decorating the walls in a hotel.

  1. Sculpture

    • Hang a wall sculpture above the work desk in the hotel room. Make the sculpture of something that matches the vibe of the area. If the hotel is in a seaside town, a metal sculpture of sailboats or seashells could be used. For hotels near a state or national park, an artful arrangement of tree branches or a tree sculpture could be used. Make sure the wall art is relatively flat, so it doesn't interfere with the usable space of the room.

    Photographs

    • Take close-up, black-and-white photographs of different places and things that relate to the city in which the hotel is located. This gives guests a different perspective of things the area is known for, and a new way of looking at things. For example, if the hotel is in Seattle, you could take a close-up picture of the top of the Space Needle, an umbrella with rain drops on it, and latte art. Blow up the photographs and place them in square, black frames with white matting. Space three or four of them evenly over each bed in the room.

    Color Choice

    • The colors used in a sleeping area such as a hotel room can affect the mood of its occupants. Cool colors in light shades are a good choice in hotel rooms, since they help create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere where guests can unwind. Match the wall decorations to the hue of the wall's paint color. Since the decorations generally take up a small amount of space, it's okay to go with a darker color. A light blue wall would look good with dark blue decorations. For a beige or other neutral wall color, add a splash of color to the room by placing one or two wall hangings with bright tones.
