Visitors to Japan are often amused and intrigued by its capsule hotels. Capsule hotels rent tiny, coffin-sized spaces to guests rather than entire rooms. Guests can usually do not much more while in the capsule than lie down, read or watch TV. While this may sound odd and unacceptable to many people, capsule hotels do have their advantages. Almost everything, from the alarm clock to the adjustable lighting, is within arm's reach. Capsule hotels are also less expensive than full-sized hotel rooms.
Unlike many capsule hotels, which cater only to men, the Capsule Inn Akihabara has rooms for both men and women, albeit on separate floors. The hotel is open all hours and features wireless Internet access in the lounge. The hotel also has three guest computers which can be used free of charge. Since guests in capsule hotels don't spend a great deal of time actually in their rooms, the lounge becomes the main relaxation area. Capsule Inn Akihabara has coffee and free mineral water in the lounge, and guests are welcome to sit back and take their shoes off. The inn has shower rooms for women and a public bath for men, as well as luggage storage. Akihabara is known as a technical area of Tokyo, where visitors can find blocks of shops selling computers, electronics, video games and other electronic toys. The hotel is located four minutes from the JR Akihabara Station of the Hibiya Subway and five minutes from the Tsukuba Express Line and Suehirocho Station on the Ginza Subway Line.
