Further up the road near Torrance is the family-owned Bala Hy Motel and Cottages. Guest room and lakeside cottage amenities include queen beds in all accommodations, cable television, mini-refrigerator and maid service. On-site amenities include a bonfire pit, private beach and island, as well as boat and canoe rentals. In all, the facility offers 10 rooms as well as several cottages, which come equipped with small kitchen appliances such as a coffee maker and microwave. Northwest of Torrance is the Avon Motel, located on Highway 69. This unique lodge offers 18 rooms, both standard and luxury. Each guest room has a television and a four-piece bath, while only eight of the units are equipped with air conditioning. Rooms also come equipped with a television, coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. The motel also features an on-site restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. (It is closed on Tuesdays.) For outdoor enthusiasts, the motel is located right on walking and snowmobiling trails, providing easy access to the tranquil settings of surrounding nature.
