Technically, motels were originally created as "motorist hotels," lodging that catered to driving travelers. Generally, motels are lodging destinations for price sensitive travelers. Midtown Atlanta's collection of motels offer affordable lodging in the heart of the city. Motel stay experiences vary in terms of service and quality but travelers can expect to pay less than $100 per night. The official boundaries of Midtown Atlanta are Monroe Drive on the east, I-85 and I-75 to the north, Northside Parkway on the west, and North Avenue on the south.

    • Super 8, part of the Wyndham family of accommodations, is a national chain of inexpensive motels. As of January 2011, rooms go for $26.95 per person including access to a common kitchen, a community TV room and pool table. Rooms are outfitted with bunk beds and if you are traveling alone, be prepared to share the room with strangers.
