Motels in Valentine, Nebraska

Valentine is in northern Nebraska, about 10 miles south of the South Dakota border. With Highway 83 cutting through the middle of town from north to south, Highway 20 intersecting it from east to west, and a handful of available motels in the middle of town, Valentine can be an ideal stopping place for travelers in northern Nebraska. The area also offers outdoor recreational opportunities, with a nearby working ranch at Arthur Bowring Sandhills State Historical Park, as well as the Niobrara River, which flows just south of town, and the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge about 25 miles to the south.

    • Comfort Inn is Valentine's closest motel to the Cowboy Trail, a 321-mile multi-use path that stretches from the town of Chadron to the west, all the way to Norfolk in northeastern Nebraska. The trail, which accommodates walkers, hikers and bicyclers, runs through the middle of Valentine, just a block north of the Comfort Inn. In addition to easy access to the trail, the motel offers free wireless Internet access and free continental breakfast each morning. Comfort Inn also has an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and fitness center, and rooms include cable TV, coffee makers and either two queen beds or one king bed.

    Super 8

    • Despite being alongside Highway 20, Super 8 is located in a largely residential area without much road noise. A few restaurants are within walking distance, including fast food establishments a block to the east and west. The Cherry County Historical Society Museum is across the street, and the Valentine Visitors Center is another block to the north. The motel has a swimming pool, free Internet access and free breakfast each morning. Rooms include microwaves, refrigerators and coffee makers. Super 8 is also one of the area's few lodging options to allow pets for no additional fee; call ahead to make arrangements for your pet before booking your stay.

    Trade Winds Motel

    • Trade Winds is another pet-friendly motel in Valentine, allowing up to two pets per room for an additional $5 per day, per animal (as of January 2011). The roadside motel is located on the south side of town, just west of Highway 83 and 20, in a largely rural area. You won't find restaurants or shops within walking distance, but several options exist a short drive along Highway 20 to the northwest. Trade Winds offers a free country-style breakfast each morning, plus free wireless Internet, microwaves, coffee makers and refrigerators in all rooms. Ask about AAA discounts when booking your stay.

    Motel Raine

    • Motel Raine sits alongside Highway 20 on the west side of Highway 97. You'll have several dining options within walking distance, and the motel is one of the few in Valentine with an on-site, full-service restaurant --- the Rio Magdalena Colombian Grill, which serves lunch and dinner. In addition, you'll have access to a free continental-style breakfast each morning, as well as in-room microwaves and refrigerators. Motel Raine also offers a fitness room and 32-inch flat-screen TVs in each room, plus available wireless Internet access.
