Motels Near Idaho City, Idaho

The historic town of Idaho City, Idaho is located in the Boise Basin and grew out of the gold rush in the 1860s. It is on the national register of historical towns and its magnificent vistas and colorful history provide an intriguing backdrop for year-round recreational and tourist opportunities. As of July 2009, this small, rustic town boasted a population of 475 people, according to the website City-data. Antique stores, historic buildings and beautiful national forests make a visit to Idaho City a must for those who enjoy the history of the "Old West." Unfortunately, as of January 2011, the economy in Idaho City has been difficult for the lodging industry, with some of the hotels closing their doors. Fortunately, Boise, Idaho is about 40 miles south on Highway 21. With a population of about 200,000 in 2006, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are enough motels, and other lodging facilities, to meet the needs of even the most discriminating visitor.

    • The Knotty Pine Lodge closed their doors in 2009, but the owner still rents a cabin. The clean and comfortable cabin is equipped with a full kitchen, hot water, a microwave and garbage disposal. The full bath includes a washer and dryer, and the living room has a fireplace, satellite TV and a DVD player. Although the area doesn't have cell phone service, the cabin is wired for broadband Internet. Two queen-sized beds and a twin bed is included and Elk Creek runs nearby, which is available for trout-fishing. As of January 2011, the rates are $75-$95 per night for two adults, with no charge for children. Pets can stay for $10 per night.

    A One Step Away

    • A bed and breakfast facility, A One Step Away boasts antiques and collectibles, as well as four cozy rooms and suites with claw-foot bathtubs, showers or both. According to their website, this quaint B&B is located within walking distance of downtown Idaho City and includes six specialty shops in their shopping village, located on the property. Gold panning, snowshoe and inner tube rentals are offered. You are encouraged to call for reservations and current rates.

    Springhill Suites by Marriott Boise ParkCenter

    • Springhill Suites is a Marriott facility with all the amenities normally provided by this corporate facility, including free breakfast, a business center, high-speed wireless Internet and an on-site, coin-operated laundry facility. The rooms come equipped with queen or king-sized beds, an iron and ironing board, a mini-fridge, microwave, 37-inch television and cable. With a non-refundable $10 "sanitation" fee, as of January 2011, your pet is welcome to stay in your room. Springhill Suites is located near Boise Airport, Boise State University, downtown Boise and within easy access to Highway 21.

    Best Western Plus Northwest Lodge

    • The Best Western Plus Northwest Lodge is located off Highway 21 in Boise and is a member of the popular chain of hotels. Built in 2001, this facility has 69 rooms, 66 of which are smoke-free, featuring cable satellite television, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, mini-fridge and king or queen-sized beds. Facility amenities include complimentary continental breakfast from 5:30 to 10:00 a.m. daily and cookies and milk from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. nightly, on-site laundromat, and indoor pool, spa and exercise facility available 24 hours. Best Western Plus Northwest Lodge is less than five miles from the Boise Municipal Airport, and close to downtown Boise, the State Capitol Building and Highway 21.
